Beautiful French Nails
It is rather simple to get the look of perfect French nails and this is something you can even do yourself with a few easy steps. Before anything else, you should prepare the nails well enough by cleaning it; remove any old nail polish and file the nails into shape. If you do not clean your nails before trying to do a French manicure, you will only waste time doing your nails as results will always be unsatisfactory.
The next step is to properly soak your fingernails in a bath of warm water in order for the cuticles to be softened. Softening the cuticles is important because when you do French nails, you need to clean the entire surface of the nails including trimming off any excess skin along the sides of the nail plate. If you attempt working with untreated cuticles, you are well on your way to possible cuts or wounds that are simply unattractive.
Make the cuticle ready for cleaning; gently push it back with an orangewood stick; if you are faced with a lot of cuticle, make use of cuticle remover to accomplish the job. Take some time when managing cuticle build up in order to limit any possible wounds that may surface as you do the task; see as it delivers better results when doing French nails. Remember to spend an adequate amount of time on this particular step to make sure you do not damage your fingernails in the process of cleaning out the cuticles.
Do not miss applying hand cream to the nails and rub them in well; leave the cream in for about two to three minutes and wipe away any excess cream with some facial tissue. The cream will serve to maintain the needed moisture in your fingers as well as to serve as a protective seal for the treated cuticles. After this step, you will start dealing with nail polish applications.
You can start putting color on your French nails; a clear basecoat is the first thing to apply; remember to let the nails dry completely after application. A basecoat is needed before any other color is painted on because it serves as the base for whatever the final look will be. It is a basic fact that polish should be allowed to dry after each coat is applied to achieve a clear and balanced look among the fingernails; no lumps whatsoever are formed this way.
When the basecoat has been allowed to dry, a thin layer of polish can now be applied over the base; a polish with a pale hue is often the color of choice here; one which matches the color of the nail. As what was done with the basecoat, apply the neutral polish in layers; about two to three thin layers will do perfectly; again, allow each coat to dry first before painting on another one. The last part of working with polish is to paint a straight line on the end of the fingernail to get the look of French nails.
To have an effect on the pale foundation, white or beige nail polish is applied to the tips of the fingernails achieving a French style manicure; using opaque shades this time serves to contrast the former polish shades used. The ends of the fingernails should have a strip of opaque colored polish applied across the nail but remember to let each layer dry first before another coat of polish is applied. A straight white strip along the fingernail ends distinctly gives French nails its image; try going along the natural curve of the nail when you apply this strip and see how your nails will start appearing as if they were longer than they really are.
Finalize the polish work with a clear coat applied on top of all the previous layers. You can make the surrounding edges of the nails neat with an orangewood stick and a cotton ball doused with some nail polish remover. It will now take a longer wait before you can start using your hands, about an hour or so; to achieve wonderful nails be sure not to ignore this crucial step in the overall process.
